Legend of Zelda
Nintendo

Everyone had heard of or seen somthing to the likes of the Legend of Zelda in our lifetime. I don't know how someone who owns an NES go without it...

The Legend of Zelda has a lot going for it. It broke new ground in the ways we look at games (as quoted in the NES Atlas). Although, every game must have at least one thorn in it's side. In the Legend of Zelda the thorn that I speak of is the visuals. Most of them use a simple pallet for backgrounds and that yellow color gets quite annoying after a while. Yes I know that the dungeons are multi-colored but it can't quite overshadow it's visual demise. Graphics C+ (78)

Everybody has heared the tunes from Legend of Zelda and most of them have probably got them stuck in their head at one time or another. These tunes are classic. I certianly can't forget them. They are one of the best collections of tunes in a videogame ever. Music A- (92)

The controls are simple. They have no possible way to ruin your gaming experence. In fact the simple sceme makes the game more enjoyable. My only gripe is that Link did not have any more moves, Oh well... Controls A (95)

The Zelda series is a unique breed between action and RPG. In one hand you are an adventurer looking to save the princess and the other you ARE Link. This kind of game only rarely has chopiness in it's gameplay. As is the case with Zelda. Only once in a while will you be met with a gap in Gameplay. Gameplay B+ (88)

The Zelda series is also plagued by a rap sheet of fustration. Only few fustrating moments appear in this game. These examples include, An extremely hard dungeon or a nearly impossible boss. Otherwise this seires is delightfully challenging. Fustration A (94)

Take it from me one quest is usually enough to saisfy me. But Legend of Zelda has 2 quests. Jeez, the length (and learning curve) just doubled (and in some cases tripled!). Wow, this is a long game! But is the length really helping or hindering the game. IMO it helps the game considerably! This game will keep you occupied for plenty of time! Length A (94)

The most important question you shoud you ask of a game is, is it fun? It should be fun or it is not worth playing. Legend of Zelda is fun. Just ask anyone who has played it. But, I don't know why it just leaves something to be desired in the catigorie of fun factor. Fun Factor C+ (79)

As I have already mentioned before, Legend of Zelda has to quests. To most of us this is obvous. The second quest bostes a new challenge and a reason to play the game after you have already beaten it. This is a truly unique feature to any game. You will most likely be playing Legend of Zelda over and over again. Replay A (94)

There is something about Zelda that I can't quite place that attracts fans to this game. Is it the action? the adventure? No. IMO it is the nostalgia. Everybody remembers the first time they saw that shiny gold catrage or what they names their first charicter. Nostalgia is an improtant part of this game. Mystery Category (Nostalgia) A+ (100)
