Oh boy, here comes a trip down the old nostalgia road. Ah Marble Madness, This was one of my first games ever... A true master piece of gaming. This is also one of the best games EVER. I swear to it! Perfect in almost every aspect. (End Nostalgia Trip)
The game is conducted in a 3-D environment. The dimensions of this game are perfect. Heck, it's more 3-D than 3-D Worldrunner! The levels fill me with awe. The marble doesn't really move but the bubbles inside of it do. I can say that that animation is utterly FLAWLESS! I don't see how much longer I can go on like this! Graphics A+ (98)
The music on this game, or any game for that matter should set the mood for the level. Marble Madness does a very good job of this. The interlude of Practice is a really nice opener. Intermediate Picks up the pace Ariel freaks you out. Goofy is...well...goofy. And the music doesn't suck either! Music A- (92)
Marble Madness offers two distinct controls. 90 degrees and 45. the degrees represent the angle that you should hold your controller at. As for the in game controls, they are very demanding. You need precise timing and lightning quick reflexes to get by. If you are not perfect you will use up key seconds that become important in the late game. But that is what you should expect from such a work of art. Controls B+ (88)
Urggh! this game is extremely hard before you reach the learning curve. After you've passed the curve the game is still difficult to beat. But once you do beat it, it becomes much easier. Will the game suffer a little downfall here? Yes, it will. Frustration B (84)
The only thing that MB failed to do was make the game longer. A few more levels would have been nice, but, Oh well... Other than that the game's replay value makes it a much longer game. But, I shouldn't be talking about replay in the Length category... Length C+ (79)
This game is a good as it gets when it comes to Fun Factor. It's shortness helps it in this category because it offers a quick distraction. This is the type of game to play when you don't feel like committing yourself to a long game. (Although commitment isn't always a bad thing) Otherwise, this game is fun at it's limit! Fun Factor A+ (100)
Replay is another element in this masterpiece of a game. I cant seem to stop playing this game. Once I beat it I have to beat my old score again. I just cant help myself! Woah, I seem to have gotten off track for a second... Replay A+ (98)
Anther reason why I like this game is Level 5. Level 5 is called Goofy. EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG. These words are possibly the BEST thing that could possibly be put into and NES or any video game for that matter. That quote makes this game great in my book. Best game ever! (Note: strictly IMHO) Mystery Category (Goofiness) A+ (100)
Final Grade: 92%
And the honor of being BPZ's favorite NES game!
